Annual Call for New Ideas Submissions 2026

The Journal of Graduate Medical Education (JGME) is seeking novel graduate medical education (GME) interventions or assessments that have been implemented at least once and appear successful in preliminary evaluations. These interventions can be an innovation in curricula, teaching, assessment, quality and safety, program evaluation, supervision, faculty development, or other topics relevant to GME (eg, transitions to GME, transitions to practice). We particularly encourage submissions highlighting climate and planetary health related initiatives in GME. Read more.

Call for Papers: Climate Change, Human and Planetary Health, and Graduate Medical Education

The Journal of Graduate Medical Education (JGME) is seeking submissions that relate to climate change, human and planetary health, and graduate medical education (GME). There is an urgent need for evidence to support training methods that can prepare graduates to provide high-quality care, particularly for vulnerable patients. These climate and health–related manuscripts may focus on any aspect of GME, such as curriculum, faculty development, assessment, sustainability, quality improvement, or educational resources. This is an ongoing call and includes Original Research, Educational Innovation, Brief Report, Review, Perspectives, and On Teaching categories. Manuscript submissions by trainees and international authors are encouraged. Authors should closely follow JGME’s Instructions for Authors before submitting. Please identify that you are responding to this call in your cover letter.

Email jgme@acgme.org with any questions.

Call for Papers: GME Around the World

The Journal of Graduate Medical Education (JGME) is excited about a new journal section, “GME Around the World,” to highlight challenges and potential solutions occurring throughout the world in graduate medical education (GME). We believe that innovative approaches are being developed in regions underrepresented in medical education publications and that these approaches can be useful globally. Health education systems worldwide face similar challenges, such as workforce shortages (particularly in rural areas), new infectious diseases, climate-related health problems, and increasing prevalence of chronic diseases. Meanwhile GME is often experiencing increasingly complex accreditation and regulatory requirements. We believe that sharing how health systems and GME are meeting these challenges, in different settings, can benefit all.

This new section offers international authors a dedicated space to disseminate their work. “GME Around the World” will prioritize submissions from authors outside of North America, Western Europe, and Australia and from countries underrepresented in the medical education literature, to enhance diverse voices within JGME. Submissions may include Original Research, Educational Innovation, Reviews, Brief Report, Perspectives, and On Teaching. Please indicate in the cover letter that the submission is in response to the GME Around the World call.

Authors can find guidance on how to submit a manuscript on the JGME website.

Contact  jgme@acgme.org with any questions.
